You're a 2nd Lieutenant just out of the Academy, with some good work under your belt. You're posted to Tiger's Claw, the flagship of the Confederation Fleet. Will you help the Confederation to victory, or go down in infamy?GameplayWing Commander is a space combat simulator interspersed with shipboard dialogs. Onboard the ship, you can visit the bar to get the latest gossip, or go on to the next mission and experience the breathtaking 3D space combat, that has you sitting in the cockpit, where you control the craft to roll, turn, maneuver up/down, use the afterburner, as well as fire guns and launch missiles. You'll be fighting several different types of enemy fighters and capital ships, and even combat a few Kilrathi aces.Wing Commander: The Secret MissionsIn the first expansion of Wing Commander, the Tiger's Claw responds to a distress call from the Terran colony in the Goddard System. Once they arrive, they find that the colony has been completely destroyed by a new Kilrathi secret weapon, with no survivors. The Tiger's Claw is then ordered to pursue the Kilrathi fleet into their own space and destroy this new weapon - without reinforcements or the ability to resupply...Wing Commander: The Secret Missions 2: CrusadeIn the second expansion to Wing Commander, everything seems quiet at first. The Tiger's Claw is stationed in the Firekka system. The Firekkans are bird-like aliens who are applying for membership in the Confederation. Things change when huge Kilrathi fleets appear near Firekka. Even though the system has no military value, the Kilrathi are pulling fleets from other systems, all of them heading for Firekka. The Confederation is puzzled, until a Kilrathi defector is able to shed light on the mystery and the pilots of the Claw are called to defend Firekka and the Confederation diplomats from a Kilrathi holy war.Wing Commander II: Vengeance of the KilrathiThe Wing Commander series' trademark cinematic storytelling and immersive gameplay continues to shine in this sequel.StoryYour carrier is destroyed by Kilrathi stealth fighters. You are blamed for the loss. After being demoted you are transferred to a space station far off the front lines where you are supposed to spend the rest of your career. However, ten years later, you are able to save the Confederation flagship, the Concordia, from a Kilrathi attack. On the ship, you meet many old friends. Back in the cockpit, it's up to you to stop the Kilrathi and prove your innocence in the destruction of the Tiger's Claw.GameplayThere are all-new ships for both the Kilrathi and the Confederation. Many of the weapons from the previous game make a return, however that wont be enough this time. With the arrival of new technology, new tactics are required. Since capital ships now employ "phase shielding", making them immune to normal weapons fire, only special torpedoes can damage them. Only heavy fighters and bombers are able to make torpedo runs. Before a torpedo can be fired, the shields of the target must be analyzed to find a way to get through, which results in a long locking phase during which the bomber must not move. The bombers are equipped with one or more gun turrets to protect them from enemy fighters during the lock-on. Another new technology are chaff pods, which can be deployed to lure enemy missiles off the target.Wing Commander II: Special Operations 1After the victory at K’Tithrak Mang, things are looking up for the Confederation. Several Kilrathi planets are rebelling and breaking away from the Empire. The Special Operations division of Confed is assigned to support the Kilrathi rebels and protect them from the inevitable Imperial counterattack. That's not the only problem, though: after a mutiny on a Confed cruiser, the crew have taken to piracy and attack human trade ships in the nearby star systems.Wing Commander II: Special Operations 2Zachary "Jazz" Colson, traitor to the Confederation, is being transported to his execution when he is freed by the Society of Mandarins. Meanwhile, Confed is testing its latest fighter, the Morningstar, on the Concordia. Performing the tests is the Wild Eagle Squadron, under the command of an old acquaintance: Todd "Maniac" Marshall. And while the Morningstar is still plagued with random failures of its jump drive, the Mandarin, under Jazz's command, have already set their eyes on acquiring the prototype for the Kilrathi.
