ABOUT THE GAME
In Ethernal, a roguelite/FPS, you will face hordes of enemies with a fast action gameplay, many weapons and powers that allow for a smooth killing experience. Explore Saturn's moon, Titan, while you look for revenge at the ERE facilities.GameplayYou will have powers like "Swap" if you need to escape or close distance, "Shield" to protect yourself from enemy attacks or "Blackhole" to swallow your enemies and their bullets, sending them to perpetual destruction. Play aggressive with a shotgun, keep your distance and feel like a gunslinger with your Atlas revolver, or just stab with your laser dagger and send those bastards straight to robohell. Choose between many weapons and powers to savage your way across Titan, fighting against tens of different enemies at lots of procedural maps.StoryThe ERE (Ethereal Research Enterprise) is an organization focused on the extraction, research and refining of ether, a blue substance that was found all around Saturn when the first human explorations arrived. After extensive research, this new liquid was successfully refined and used as energy for all purposes. Due to its impressive properties, it has been used to power space stations, facilities, robots and all sorts of things, as well as food and advanced medical treatment. All of this process was done by a space exploration company with backing from many governments, known as the ERE. The expansion this company saw and the priviliged position it had made it the sole exporter of ether along the solar system, bringing trillions of revenue and thousands of workers to colonize and exploit all the ether they could find. You joined as a young field engineer and had been assigned to Titan a while ago, until something happened. As you awake once again, you will face death every corner until you kill every enemy on sight... or they kill you.ProgressionThe game difficulty is divided in tiers, going from 1 to 10. As you progress into the game, the new mapsets/biomes you find will have a new tier assigned to them, scaling the difficulty of the game. Along with it, there are three ways to progress in Ethernal: Weapons, Powers and Upgrades. You can find and unlock weapon blueprints by exploring, that will allow you to craft unique weapons. You can also find and unlock new power blueprints that you will be able to craft later on. They are meant for the player to choose the power build that better suits their playstyle. You can change them at the Powers Station. You can craft upgrades that will help your character to have more health, injections, ether... Some recipes will have to be found while others can be crafted once you have all the necessary components.EnemiesEnemies have 3 categories: Pawns, Elites and Bosses. There are 3 pawns that fulfill specific roles in combat (hostigator, infantry and explosive). This pawns will get their AI and meshes upgraded every tier, giving a total of 30 pawns. They will get exponentially dangerous. Elites are minibosses that can spawn at any combat. Once an elite is introduced to you, get used to it... You will see it often. The game contains 10 deadly bosses that will appear at every tiers. You will have to kill them just once... If you survive.GamemodesThere are 3 game modes in the game, depending on how much of a challenge you want to have: Etherlike, Roguelite and Roguelike. Etherlike is the recommended mode for the game, as we envision it. In this mode, you will have to beat every tier before getting the chance to save. You enter a tier, beat it and extract. If you die, you will not retain anything you've got in that particular tier, but your previous progress will be unaffected. Think of every tier as a checkpoint you have to complete in order to get new blueprints, materials and advance through the game. At Roguelite mode, progress will always be saved even if you die (you will retain any materials you get, blueprints you find or things you craft), but you will have to complete every tier again, going back to the game start. The roguelike mode is the most difficult mode of all. In this mode, you will have to start the game all over again if you die. No progress will be kept! You can have one character for every game mode. If you want to play with your friends, make sure you all create a character for the same game mode!
